CFM explained

The goal of porting heads is to increase the CFM (Cubic Feet Per Minute).  The general rule of thumb for every CFM that is gained, an increase of 1.8 - 2.2 horsepower is likely.  This means for a serious street/bracket type engine with a healthy solid cam, some extra compression, single plane intake, ect. we typically see 2 - 2.1hp gains per CFM.  So for example, a head that flowed 225 CFM before modification and improved to 280 CFM through porting, netting a 55 CFM improvement = 110 HP gain.  This is a fact, and has been proven.  Please see our "real life" story here.

Milder lower compression engines, with hydraullic cams typically see 1.8 HP/CFM gains.  And, for all out race type, roller cam, high compression combos, we have seen 2.2 - 2.3 HP per CFM gains.

Keep in mind, NOT EVERYONE gets these gains.  But due to our total port design WE DO!!
